Sour Cream Coffee Cake Recipe

This sour cream coffee cake recipe is one of my favorites. It is warm, moist and delicious - perfect with your morning coffee. I make this recipe for Christmas morning every year. Make it a day or two ahead of time. As long as you wrap it up well it will taste like it just came out of the oven when you are ready to serve it.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1½ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°.

In a bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans. Toss to mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix to combine. Add butter, sour cream and vanilla and beat with a mixer. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.

Pour half the egg mixture into a greased and floured 9 X 13 baking dish or 10-inch tube pan. Top with brown sugar, pecan mixture then remaining egg mixture. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes.
