Organizing Children's Clothing

Wow, 13 dresser drawers, closet space and shoe rack....that is a lot of storage space! Without knowing exactly what kind of clothing your child has, here is what I would do...

Obviously, we are going to put shoes in the shoe rack. If you have the kind of shoe rack that has plastic pockets for the shoes, and you have more pockets than shoes, use the extra pockets to store other things like hair accessories, belts, small purses or even small toys.

Hang all shirts, skirts and dresses in the closet. I usually separate my son's shirts by season....all short sleeve shirts on one side, long sleeve shirts in the middle and sweatshirts and sweaters on the other side.

With 13 dresser drawers, you should not have a problem sorting the rest...

  • heavy pajamas

  • lightweight pajamas

  • long school pants

  • long play pants

  • shorts

  • sweaters that should not be hung

  • socks/tights

  • underpants

  • undershirts

You can use the leftover drawer space to store clothes that are a bit too big right now. With that much storage space, you can shop end-of-season clearance sales to stock up on larger sizes to save money.
