How To Organize Your Bedroom
When it comes to household organization, I always recommend that you organize your bedroom first. Let me tell you why.
Most people neglect the private spaces in their homes, thinking that since nobody will ever see those spaces, it doesn't really matter whether or not they are neat and organized.
This type of thinking could not be more wrong. It does matter...to you!
Also, your bedroom is the first thing you see when you wake up every morning. It sets the tone for the rest of your day. If you open your eyes to clutter, you will start your day feeling overwhelmed. But if you open your eyes to organization just think of the motivation you will feel and how that can carry you through the rest of your day!

Organize Your Bedroom Declutter
As with any other room, the first thing you should do to organize your bed room is to remove the clutter. When it comes to removing clutter, the best approach is to act quickly. You will have time to make final decisions later. Right now your goal is the get as much stuff out of your way as possible so if you are undecided about an item, move it out for now.
Quickly grab anything that belongs in another room in the house. Move these items to the appropriate room.
Take a careful look around your bedroom for clutter. This means anything you no longer use, want or need. Move all of these items to Clutter Central.
Dispose of any trash or recycling.
Attack your closet and dresser drawers - and I do mean attack! Be ruthless. If you have not worn it in 6 months move it to Clutter Central.
Organize Your Bedroom The Clean Sweep
Now that you have gotten all of the clutter out of the way, give your bedroom a thorough cleaning.
Wash your sheets and remake your bed.
Bring all of the dirty laundry to the laundry room, sort it and continue moving it along until all of the laundry has been washed, dried and put away.
Take window curtains down and throw them in the dryer to remove dust.
Wash the windows and blinds.
Vacuum, including using the crevice attachment to get into the corners and along the walls and use the extension attachment to clear dust and cobwebs from the ceiling.
Dust all surfaces, headboard, footboards, and wall hangings.
Wash the overhead light fixture and ceiling fan blades.
Organize Your Bedroom Simple Maintenance
Now that we have talked about how to organize your room, let's talk about how to keep it that way. Here are some simple things that you can do to keep your room looking its best.
If you have children make a new household rule that absolutely no toys are allowed in the master bedroom - this is your space, stand your ground.
Take the time to make your bed every morning.
Open your window blinds every morning and let the sun shine in! Sunshine will make your nice, clean room feel warm and cozy. You will grow to love that feeling and you will be more likely to keep your room clean.
Be sure to wash your bed sheets at least once per week.
If you have a laundry hamper in your bedroom, make sure you keep it under control. Try to get into the habit of doing at least one load of laundry every day.
If you read or do projects in bed, use your nightstand drawer or keep a small storage bin tucked under your bed to store your current project.
Vacuum and dust thoroughly at least once each week.
If you find that you gradually start to slip and your master bedroom begins to look cluttered again, simply repeat the Clean Sweep and start the process again.
Now that you know how to organize a bedroom, I hope that you will discover the satisfaction of reclaiming your own peaceful haven.
