Mineral Oil

by Chris
(Massachusetts)

Mineral oil is great to clean wood stoves. I have a wood stove in my living room and I use mineral oil in the Spring to give it a clean, wet look. I apply the oil with a cloth.

The first time I tried cleaning the stove I used water and it made rust marks. The mineral oil worked wonders.

I have never seen this tip listed anywhere before.

Great Tip
by: Tracy

This is a great tip! Mineral oil is perfect to clean any wood surface. I use it to keep my wood cutting board looking clean and new.

If you have wood counter tops or a butcher block table, an occassional cleaning with mineral oil is in order. It is also great for wooden spoons or other wooden cooking utensils.

Simply moisten a soft cloth with the oil and wipe the entire wood surface. Let sit so the oil absorbs into the wood. If necessary, wipe off any excess with a clean, dry cloth.
