Kugel Recipe

I got this noodle kugel recipe from my Great Aunt when I got married. My bridesmaids had the fabulous idea of creating a recipe box for me. With each invitation they enclosed a recipe card and asked each guest to my bridal shower to give me one of their favorite recipes.

Kugel is basically noodle pudding that you serve as a side dish. This noodle pudding recipe is so sweet and delicious you might want to save it for dessert.

Kugel (Noodle Pudding)

Ingredients:

  • ½ lb. fine egg noodles
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ lb. large curd cottage cheese
  • ½ pint sour cream
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ½ cup raisins (optional)
  • ¼ lb. butter or margarine
  • cinnamon and sugar

Directions:

Cook the noodles according to package directions. Drain well.

Meanwhile, melt the butter and spread over the bottom and sides of a 9 X 13 casserole dish. Pour excess butter into a large mixing bowl.

To the mixing bowl, add eggs, cottage cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla. Mix to combine.

Spread the cooked noodles into the casserole dish. Pour cheese mixture on top. Top with raisins, cinnamon and sugar.

Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
