Fresh Tomato Salsa Recipe
Make this fresh tomato salsa recipe any time you want to feel like Summer is in full swing. For the best results, be sure to use only the freshest ingredients when making this dish.
When you eat this salsa, you will feel like you are eating a tomato that has just been picked from the garden. Of course, if you have tomatoes that have just been picked fresh from the garden, by all means, use them. They will make this salsa taste even better!
Make this salsa as hot or mild as you like by adding to or subtracting from the amount of jalepeno peppers called for.
If you like your salsa more on the sweet side you can eliminate the jalepenos altogether and add a teaspoon or two of sugar to sweeten it up.
Fresh Tomato Salsa
Ingredients:
- 4 large roma tomatoes
- ¼ cup chopped green onions
- ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 Tblsp. fresh oregano
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp. minced jalepenos - or more if you like it hot(optional)
- 1 Tblsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp. fresh lime juice
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Directions:
Cut the tomatoes in half lengthwise. Using a small spoon, carefully remove the seeds from the center of each tomato half. Dice the tomatoes and place them in a large bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and carefully toss to combine. Refrigerate for up to 4 hours to allow the flavors to blend before serving.
Serve this salsa with tortilla chips or pita chips or use as a topping for nachos, tacos or burritos.
