Breakfast Casserole Recipe
Here is a breakfast casserole recipe that is perfect for entertaining during breakfast or brunch. This one is a staple in my family. It is easy to make and a good choice for a prepare ahead meal idea because the recipe actually instructs you to prepare it the night before.
Breakfast Casserole
Ingredients:
- 12 eggs
- 12 slices of bread, cubed
- 3½ cups milk
- 2 lbs. bulk sausage
- 2 cups shredded cheddar
- 2 tsp yellow mustard
- salt & pepper to taste
- ½ green pepper, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 can mushrooms, drained
Directions:
Brown sausage, add onion and green pepper and drain. In a large bowl, mix remaining ingredients. Add in sausage mixture. Place in 9 x 13 casserole dish, cover and refrigerate overnight.
Bake at 375 for 1 hour 15 minutes or until egg is set. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
You can change up the taste of this casserole by using different flavors of sausage. I prefer the maple flavored sausage but you can choose your favorite variety.
