The Monthly OrganizerMay 2007Monthly MotivationThere are no traffic jams along the extra mile.Roger Staubach
I came across this quote a few weeks ago and found it quite profound. Try to go the extra mile in every aspect of your life.
Monthly Organization TipDo you have a cabinet or closet that is overflowing with household cleaning products that you don't use? Have you purchased cleaning products that you had never used before in the hopes that it would be the miracle solution to your cleaning problem, only to be disappointed? Are all of these unused products robbing you of storage space and turning your cleaning cabinet into an unorganized mess? This month, take some time to sort through those cleaning products. Dispose of anything that you do not use and make a list of what needs to be replenished. Get yourself a plastic caddy with a handle to keep your cleaning products neatly contained. The added benefit to this type of storage is that when you are ready to clean all you have to do is grab your caddy and go. Everything you need will be neatly contained and at your disposal making the task of cleaning that much easier. Take a peek at the Tips to Organize Life Household Cleaning Product Reviews to find out what works and why. Take a few extra minutes to tell me about a product that you love and receive a free copy of my new e-book Tips to Organize Spring Cleaning. Money Saving TipYou can save money while preventing static cling in your laundry. There are a lot of new, fancy fabric softeners coming on the market these days. They have wonderful fragrances, but they can tend to be quite expensive. Good old-fashioned, inexpensive dryer sheets work just as well.Did you know that static cling does not affect your laundry in warmer months? It's true. I stopped using dryer sheets from late Spring through Summer years ago and I never have static cling. I only use dryer sheets from late Fall through early Spring when the air is colder outside which increases the likelihood for static in my laundry. Even during the months that I do need dryer sheets, did you know that half a sheet works just as efficiently as a full sheet? You can save money and make your dryer sheets last longer by cutting them in half. Whenever you open a new box, cut all of the sheets in half and put them back into the box to save time. You won't have to worry about cutting a sheet each time you dry a load of clothes. So, while you may be enticed by the wonderful aromas of these new, expensive fabric softeners, keep in mind that you will be spending a lot of money for your clothes to smell good. You can eliminate static cling in a much less expensive way. Recipe of the MonthMother's Day is coming up. Make the special mother in your life this delicious sweet treat to show her how much you care. This Strawberry Trifle is easy to make, light and delicious. Sweetened with fresh strawberries, it is perfect for Spring and, since red is the color of love, it is the perfect dessert to make for the mother that you love! Ingredients:
Directions: Cut the pound cake into bite-sized cubes. Reserve some of the strawberries for decoration. Puree the remaining strawberries in a food processor or blender and add sugar, to taste. Prepare the pudding according to the directions on the box then beat in cream cheese. In a trifle bowl or large glass bowl, layer half the pound cake, half the strawberries and half of the pudding. Repeat the layers one more time. Top with Cool Whip. Decorate with the reserved strawberries. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Note: Do not prepare this dish more than 4 hours before it will be served or it will get too soggy and the pound cake will not hold its shape. Check it out!
